The concept of physics at work in this picture is the center of mass concept. The Center of mass concept is a point where the mass of an object is concentrated at one specific point due to external forces. In this picture the force of gravity is being applied to the phone, causing the center of gravity to be located roughly where my finger is or right at the middle. Due to the symmetrical nature of the galaxy s3 the mass and weight of the phone is evenly distributed which causes the center of mass to be right in the middle. Other objects center of mass may not necessarily be located at the middle due to the uneven distribution of mass within an object.
